You want to make sure you have a\u00a0<strong>flat and open work space<\/strong>. As you get into your build, you need to stay\u00a0<strong>focused and organized<\/strong>. I love this frame; this frame is pretty close to being&nbsp;<strong>indestructible<\/strong>. I have personally somersaulted this frame and have crashed into trees and have only had to replace props and was able to get back in the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is mostly because of the&nbsp;<strong>solid unibody bottom plate<\/strong>. Where the&nbsp;<strong>arms are part of the body<\/strong>&nbsp;instead of being added to the frame. On frames like the ZMR250 where the arms are attached to the frame with screws. That becomes a weak point. The one most important being not even getting off the ground.&nbsp;<strong>Also important to note: some motors come with different color prop nuts. These different nuts determine the direction of threading. Left or Right.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clockwise motors take a right threaded nut and counter clockwise is a left threaded nut. That way as the motor spins it self-tightens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So for this drone build, I\u2019ve chosen the&nbsp;<strong><a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/aax-us-east.amazon-adsystem.com\/x\/c\/QuAanxlHITUWg41Mmtonx-MAAAFfgxgCsAEAAAFKAYxgueE\/https:\/\/assoc-redirect.amazon.com\/g\/r\/http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00OVKOOTS\/ref=as_at\/?imprToken=KucyIq0euNd33m666yqmmg&amp;slotNum=3&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;tag=diyquad-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=w61&amp;creativeASIN=B00OVKOOTS&amp;linkId=f53048375b6d0d70613bed589d22d018\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2204\/2300kv Cobra Motors<\/a><\/strong>. I have used these motors on two other builds, and they are great.&nbsp;<strong>They give a&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>high amount of thrust&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>on a 3s battery with 5045 props.<\/strong>&nbsp;If you decide to use a 4s battery I hear they scream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, that goes into the battery section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;re a few things to think about when it comes to quadcopter motors, the first numbers on a motor is the size. 2204 and 2206 are the most common.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The numbers are width and height<\/strong>. The 22 is the diameter of the motor 04\/06 are the height. The second number is the Kv rating which the easiest way to explain this is. As voltage increases, so does the rate of spin, logical. This rate of spin quantified using revolutions per minute or RPM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Kv rating gives you the rpm a motor will spin at full throttle, given a certain voltage. So again the Kv number for you is dependent on what you&#8217;re looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you&#8217;re looking for high performance, acrobatics, and high speed a higher Kv rating is what you&#8217;re looking for<\/strong>. On the other side if you want a craft that is more stable and lasts longer in the air a lower rpm is ideal. However, a smaller rpm means bigger props in order to create the amount of thrust needed to fly. Most aerial photography drones use motors in the 700- 1000 Kv ratings. So again because I love these motors on the 250mm frame.&nbsp;<strong>I&#8217;m going to use the 2204 2300Kv Cobra motors.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tab-con-5\">ESC\u2019s<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/aax-us-east.amazon-adsystem.com\/x\/c\/QuAanxlHITUWg41Mmtonx-MAAAFfgxgCsAEAAAFKAYxgueE\/https:\/\/assoc-redirect.amazon.com\/g\/r\/http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B073ZZWWFS\/ref=as_at\/?imprToken=KucyIq0euNd33m666yqmmg&amp;slotNum=4&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;tag=diyquad-20&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;linkCode=w61&amp;creativeASIN=B073ZZWWFS&amp;linkId=7bd3938ef51a599fcf5e96805813e601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/littlebee_20a_esc.jpg\" alt=\"best Quadcopter ESC\" title=\"best Quadcopter ESC\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Next, we have the&nbsp;<strong>ESC (Electronic Speed Controller)<\/strong>. The ESC is an electronic circuit with the purpose to vary an electric motor&#8217;s speed, direction and possibly also to act as a dynamic brake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I personally use these&nbsp;<strong><\/strong><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Weyland-Electronic-Controller-Multicopter-Quadcopter\/dp\/B01NBRINWE\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=toys-and-games&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1510044614&amp;sr=1-6&amp;keywords=20a+LittleBee+ESC%27s&amp;linkCode=ll1&amp;tag=diyquad-20&amp;linkId=7d066ec35aedd455cd4d1828797ce911\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">20a LittleBee ESC&#8217;s<\/a><strong><\/strong>. These ESC&#8217;s use a&nbsp;<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.silabs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">S\ufeff\ufeffilabs processor<\/a>&nbsp;and fast dedicated driver chips, providing excellent freewheeling and exceptional braking capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These Esc\u2019s use\u00a0<strong>BLHeli firmware<\/strong>. Now you\u2019ll hear BLHeli and Simon K in regards to ESC\u2019s. Simon K has been around forever and is tried and tested. With the use of BLHeli Suite though you can tweak any BLHeli flashed ESC. Which is useful to adjust timing and reversing motors instead of tearing apart your build to switch some wires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Lot of newer ESC\u2019s also have a feature called Oneshot 125 which is a faster communication protocol between the flight controller and the ESC. Naze32 is one of the most popular. It\u2019s tried and tested and is very user-friendly. However, becoming just as popular and really is a better choice as far as performance is the seriously pro racing F3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Naze32 uses an STM32F1 CPU whereas the SP Racing F3 board uses a ARM Cortex-M4 72 Mhz CPU with a math co-processor (FPU) which allows for loop times that are up to two times as fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also allows you to be able to completely hook up anything and everything you want to your quad all at once. A 5.8Ghz transmitter is the most popular for FPV but isn&#8217;t necessarily the best. A higher frequency signal can carry more bandwidth (which is good) but has more difficulty penetrating objects such as trees and walls. Being that it&#8217;s a digital signal. A PPM signal is a single wire signal where one wire controls all of the channels. Lets dive into this build. On how I want my quad to look and where i\u2019m going to put everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><\/strong>So here\u2019s a prime example of why I do this. But it lets you know this ahead of being in the middle of the build and stumble upon it and then have to rethink some things. So we have our game plan in our head and have a vision for our racing beast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tab-con-23\">PDB Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The next step is to solder the pads and setup the power distribution board (PDB). So I have to explain I\u2019m doing this QAV250 slightly different. The stock PDB is this<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_stock_PDB.jpg\" alt=\"quadcopter diy\" title=\"quadcopter diy\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>It comes with the PDB and two LED\u2019s. First off we\u2019re flying FPV. So no need to put on the LED\u2019s. Yes they look nice\u00a0<strong>but\u00a0they draw power<\/strong>. More power being drawn less power for flight times. Now the bummer with this stock PDB is that it has no BEC\u2019s so the power you plug in is the power you get out. Our flight battery is a 3s 11.1V battery. So that 11.1v we put into the PDB is what we\u2019re going to get coming out at anyone of these pads.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_stock_PDB_pads.jpg\" alt=\"building a 250 quadcopter\" title=\"building a 250 quadcopter\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Now the problem with that is. Our Flight controller and possibly our camera and VTX depending on the hardware you get. Run off of 5.5V. So if you put 11.1V to it you\u2019ll likely get what we call magic smoke. (hehe). That is bad!! So I\u2019m changing the way I build this QAV250 and going to use one of these Diatone V7 PDB\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_flight_controller.jpg\" alt=\"250 flight controller\" title=\"250 flight controller\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>This PDB has built in BEC\u2019s for not only your Flight controller but also your Camera and VTX. So here we have the pads tinned.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_flight_controller_tinned_pads.jpg\" alt=\"quadcopter flight controller setup\" title=\"quadcopter flight controller\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>I know, not the greatest but it gets the job done. Like anything the more you do something the better you get.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tab-con-24\">Flight Controller Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our next step should be to setup your flight controller. Just flash it and make sure it works. Cause once soldered most places won\u2019t allow returns. I\u2019m not going to dive into how to do all that as there are plenty of videos on youtube for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dC0AOwQq1UI\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flas\ufeff\ufeff\ufeff\ufeffhing your flight controller<\/a>. On this build I will be using Beta flight firmware.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ok firmware is flashed so let\u2019s continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tab-con-25\">Motors mounting and ESC preparation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Next let\u2019s mount the motors.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_motor_mount.jpg\" alt=\"250 quadcopter motors\" title=\"250 quadcopter motors\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>After motors are mounted time to prep the ESC\u2019s. Because of using the different PDB. I\u2019ll be mounting the ESC\u2019s on the arms. Where typically with a QAV250 you mount them on the stock PDB underneath the craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So here\u2019s our 20A Littlebee ESC\u2019s that we\u2019re using. Again I love these. They are flashable with any up to date version of BLHELI firmware. I\u2019m going to flash these with v14.3 I&#8217;ve never had a problem with them and have used them on several builds.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_motor_signal_wire.jpg\" alt=\"esc quadcopter\" title=\"esc quadcopter\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;re going to want to cut away the shrink wrap and pop off the motor wires and the signal wire (which is the black and white). Like such.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_motor_signal_wire_cut.jpg\" alt=\"quadcopter esc\" title=\"quadcopter esc\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Keep the signal wire (white). I like running a single wire setup. It makes for a much cleaner look. I\u2019m a little OCD when it comes to this. So let&#8217;s solder up the ESC output pins on the flight controller. I\u2019m only soldering one pin, for the ESC signal wire like so.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_marking_wires.jpg\" alt=\"fpv quadcopter build guide\" title=\"fpv quadcopter build guide\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_marking_wires_ESC.jpg\" alt=\"250mm quadcopter\" title=\"250mm quadcopter\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>A little trick that helps is marking the wires so you know which one needs to go to which ESC.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_marking_wires_ESC_ends.jpg\" alt=\"quadcopter 250 build\" title=\"quadcopter 250 build\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>I do it at both ends. Ok, let&#8217;s mount up this ESC. So another prime reason why to have a game plan. As I was setting up the first ESC I realized I had forgot to pay attention to my firewall while coming up with my game plan. I wanted to mount the ESC\u2019s on top of the arms. As I was putting everything together on the first ESC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I realized I wouldn&#8217;t be able to do that because of my firewall. The firewall is this&nbsp;<strong>3D printed part<\/strong>&nbsp;that protects the Flight controller from the battery sliding up and hitting it during a crash.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_firewall_3dprint.jpg\" alt=\"how to build a fpv racing quadcopter\" title=\"how to build a fpv racing quadcopter\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>So I decided to change things up and mount the ESC\u2019s on the bottom. Putting a spacer on the landing gear to extend it. So to give enough space for the ESC.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_ESC_mount_bottom.jpg\" alt=\"fpv quadcopter build\" title=\"fpv quadcopter build\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_ESC_mount.jpg\" alt=\"fpv quadcopter build guide\" title=\"fpv quadcopter build guide\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Which this is ok to do. Actually you can mount your ESC&#8217;s anywhere you&#8217;re comfortable with.&nbsp;<strong>Just k<\/strong><strong>e<\/strong><strong>ep in mind the balance<\/strong>. You don&#8217;t want to put too much weight in any one place. So now with the fact of the firewall, I&#8217;m going to continue mounting each of the ESC&#8217;s this way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also I want to point out. You can pretty much not worry about what motor wires go where. Cause with Cleanflight and BlHeli Suite you can go in and change motor direction if your motors are spinning in the wrong direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also recently learned that Beta Flight now supports SimonK bootloaders. Which prior to this you could only change the settings of ESC&#8217;s that had a Blheli bootloader through cleanflight and Blheli suite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But now with the latest beta flight update you can change any ESC with either blheli or simonK bootloaders. Again there\u2019s different videos out there on how to do this process as well. How to use&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YWLk4qcQcvw\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BLheli passthrough.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_drone_ESC_mount_bottom.jpg\" alt=\"250 quad racer\" title=\"250 quad racer\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Boom,\u00a0<\/strong>our ESC&#8217;s are all\u00a0<strong>mounted and connected.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_drone_ESC_mount.jpg\" alt=\"build quadcopter with camera\" title=\"build quadcopter with camera\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tab-con-26\">Wiring connectors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s work on connecting our&nbsp;<strong>xt60<\/strong>. Grab some&nbsp;<strong><\/strong>red and black 16GA wire<strong><\/strong>. Tin the ends like so.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_xt60_16GA_wire.jpg\" alt=\"how to wire a drone\" title=\"how to wire a drone\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Grab a battery if needed, make sure you put positive into positive and negative into negative. Also, solder them up and put some shrink wrap onto the ends. Cut to length and you\u2019re ready to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I put my battery cables underneath and up into the battery bay. I feel it&#8217;s just a cleaner look, and it keeps it inside. I know some people run it on the outside. Again it\u2019s personal preference.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_battery_cabels_position.jpg\" alt=\"quadcopter battery mount\" title=\"quadcopter battery mount\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_battery_cabels_front.jpg\" alt=\"250 quadcopter battery\" title=\"250 quadcopter battery\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>So next up I cut and connected the positive and negative cable for the flight controller to the\u00a0<strong>5v on the PDB<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_flight_controller_PDB.jpg\" alt=\"diy pdb\" title=\"diy pdb\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tab-con-27\">Mounting Quadcopter Camera, Receiver and VTX<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, let\u2019s mount the camera, I\u2019m just using a&nbsp;<strong>3d printed 15-degree angle mount.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_camera_mount_3Dprint.jpg\" alt=\"drone camera mount\" title=\"drone camera mount\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Now at this point I\u2019m going to\u00a0<strong>put on the\u00a0standoffs<\/strong>. That way I can see what space I have to work with for mounting my Receiver and VTX.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_standoffs_receiver_vtx.jpg\" alt=\"racing drone camera mount\" title=\"racing drone camera mount\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>So here\u2019s our\u00a0<strong>little beast<\/strong>. It\u2019s coming along but as you can see. Still have a few pieces to fit in here. The receiver, LC filter and our VTX. I have the VTX just sitting in there with some double sided sticky tape. But I will mount it with hot glue.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_drone_vtx_mount.jpg\" alt=\"fpv camera mount diy\" title=\"fpv camera mount diy\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Ok, I have a vision, so let\u2019s get to it\u2026 I wrapped the ends of my lc filter with electrical tape since it\u2019s sitting on the frame. And&nbsp;<strong>Carbon Fiber is very conducive<\/strong>, so I just want to make sure there\u2019s no way any of the power from it touches the frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So with the Lc Filter it\u2019s pretty basic. It goes in line with your camera power. Power in, power out. So the 5v power supply or 12v whichever you use for your camera. It just goes in line at wherever your choosing.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_drone_filter.jpg\" alt=\"mounting fpv camera\" title=\"mounting fpv camera\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Now take the yellow wire and connect it to the yellow wire from the VTX. I removed all the other wires from the harness. The two white ones are for audio which we don&#8217;t need, and the power and ground are for if you&#8217;re going to power your camera from the VTX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since I&#8217;m not doing that there&#8217;s no need for these wires. So I\u2019m left with this.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_yellow_wire.jpg\" alt=\"how to connect fpv camera to transmitter\" title=\"how to connect fpv camera to transmitter\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Solder the yellow from the camera to this one and we\u2019re good to go. Now let\u2019s take the power and ground wires from the VTX and connect them to the PDB.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_power_ground_wires_vtx_pdb.jpg\" alt=\"250 size quadcopter\" title=\"250 size quadcopter\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Next, we want to take the group of cables for the receiver that has the red, black and white in one connector. Like this.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_receiver_cabels.jpg\" alt=\"quadcopter wiring guide\" title=\"quadcopter wiring guide\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Connect it to the side port of the flight controller on the right side like so.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_receiver_flight_controller.jpg\" alt=\"build your own fpv quadcopter\" title=\"build your own fpv quadcopter\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>And then plug it into the SBUS of the X4R receiver.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_sbus_x4r_receiver.jpg\" alt=\"250 racer quadcopter\" title=\"250 racer quadcopter\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Plug in the video and power wires to the VTX.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_video_power_wires_vtx.jpg\" alt=\"quadcopter vtx\" title=\"quadcopter vtx\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Put the top plate together and\u00a0<strong>our little beast is done<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_250mm_beast.jpg\" alt=\"quadcopter 250\" title=\"quadcopter 250\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>So here\u2019s one of the great things about this hobby\u2026 Customization!! I love these skins.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_250mm_customized_skins.jpg\" alt=\"250 quadcopter\" title=\"250 quadcopter\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tab-con-28\">Tuning and Configuration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>So now that our little beast is built. We now have some tuning and configuring to do with the flight controller and ESC\u2019s. Then making sure all of our motors spin in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now let&#8217;s connect the flight controller to Cleanflight and upload the latest firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flight controller updated. The next thing to do is connect to Blheli suite and update the ESC\u2019s and make sure the motors are spinning in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What i like to do while in cleanflight with a battery connected. See which direction the motors are spinning so you know in Blheli which to change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why I love the cleanflight Blheli passthrough. I had three motors spinning in the wrong direction. Was able to go into Blheli suite, change directions and all is good.. Also, while in Blheli suite. Make sure all ESC\u2019s are synced. Meaning each one\u2019s setting are identical to the next. This is different then doing the ESC\u2019s in the motor menu in cleanflight.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/quadcopter_drone_racer_250mm.jpg\" alt=\"diy quadcopter 250 fpv\" title=\"diy quadcopter 250 fpv\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tab-con-18\">TIPS AND TRICKS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These are just some things that I\u2019ve come to realize after the build that I should\u2019ve mentioned during the build. First right from the start before putting anything together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Sand the edges. Especially with carbon fiber frames. Be sure to wear a protective mask. But this will help your wires from being cut if rubbed up against any edge of the frame.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure you have an adjustable soldering iron and clean tips. It\u2019ll save a lot of headache in the long run. 540F-600F is a good range. I know some people do 750F but you have to be quick.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Having extra parts on hand is never a bad thing. It\u2019ll cut down on wait and downtime if you mess something up<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Build, Fly, Crash, Repeat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dronenodes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/drone_250mm_finished.jpg\" alt=\"250 quadcopter build guide\" title=\"250 quadcopter build guide\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So the mail came today and all those parts you ordered two, three weeks ago have finally arrived.
